The Witch with The Glitch by Adam Maxwell is Quirky, Funny and Great Fun for Kids

Are you looking for a funny, quirky chapter book for your youngster? Well I've found one that might be just the thing your kiddo would love to read. The great thing? It's currently FREE on Amazon!

The Witch with The Glitch centers on three friends - Ivy, Oswald and Nina - who help out in a bookstore owned by Nina’s aunt and uncle. The friends cut corners when tidying up so they have plenty of time to go on adventures. In this particular adventure they meet a witch who lives in a gingerbread house and turns the trio into a werewolf, a ghost and a vampire. They must find the mysterious Izzy before midnight or they’ll remain little monsters forever.

This was a quirky, humorous children’s chapter book. It’s only 69 pages, but the author includes a great deal of action-packed adventure for young readers. There’s a nod to Dracula, Hansel and Gretel and even Ghost Busters that may or may not go over a youngster’s head. The author inserts some personal commentary here and there throughout the book that some readers might find distracting, but I felt it went along with the book’s quirkiness.

As a book lover, I appreciated the idea of a group of friends working in a bookstore and getting caught up in book-related adventures. This is certainly a unique and unusual children’s book that I think is worth reading!

Me Tawk Funny by Neil McFarlane is Humorous and Silly, But Contains a Positive, Encouraging Message for Kids

Me Tawk Funny is a chapter book geared towards readers up to age 13. Hector Dumble is a good kid who has some trouble applying himself when it comes to his schoolwork. Like most kids, Hector would rather play than do his homework, which causes him to struggle in school.

Hector doesn't get much help or reassurance from his teacher, Mr. Weazel, who turns out to be even more “Evil” than he seems. When Hector’s dog, Buster, drinks a magic potion, it foils Mr. Weazel’s/Dr. Evil’s plans. The potion enables Buster to talk and become increasingly intelligent. Buster has some very good advice to give Hector. But will Hector listen to his talking dog?

This is the second book I’ve read byNeil McFarlane and I wasn’t disappointed. Mr. McFarlane has an original style of writing and a superb imagination. His clever dialogue and play on words are sure to entertain children.

Although the book is meant to be humorous and silly, there’s still a valuable message for children. Children will learn that it’s important for them to work hard and apply themselves if they want to excel in life. This book can be read to younger children or older kids can read it on their own. Wonderful book for kids!

Review of Bubbles Big Stink in Frog Pond by Ben Woodard

Bubbles is a frog with a problem. No matter what kind of bugs he eats, they cause him to make some stinky bubbles in Frog Pond. The other frogs are tired of putting up with Bubbles’ “problem” so they banish him from the pond. But, when the other frogs really need him later, will Bubbles come back to save the day?

This story is adorable and easily relatable to most children. Most parents know firsthand how hilarious children think it is to make their own “bubbles” in the bath. This book is sure to engage and entertain even small children. The illustrations are charming, colorful and eye-catching. It’s a short read, so it would make an excellent bedtime or even bath time read. Great fun!
