10 Phenomenal Websites to Find 4th of July Art Activities for Kids

You know it's summer when the 4th of July rolls around! Keeping the kiddos active and entertained all summer can sometimes be a challenge, but it doesn't have to be when we have so many great FREE art activities at our fingertips. I've compiled some wonderful websites that offer free printables, activities, games, craft projects, lessons and more. And since the 4th of July is just a few days away, I'm starting there.

DLTK's Crafts for Kids

DLTK's Crafts for Kids has a ton of great FREE artsy activities for kids. Their page of Independence/USA printables is sure to get kids and adults excited for the holiday.

Coloring Pages for Kids

DLTK's sister site, Coloring Pages for Kids, has a wonderful array of 4th of July and USA-inspired kids coloring pages. Check them out here. 

Tip Junkie

Tip Junkie is an awesome website for crafts, printables, activities and more. You can find a generous page of 4th of July activities, games, crafts and printables for kids and adults here. 

Mr. Printables

With a name like Mr. Printables you just know this site will be chock full of ideas and inspiration. Check out their 4th of July Activities page here. 

Mom Junction

Mom Junction has a wide variety of craft activities for adults and kids of all ages. Their 35 Best 4th of July Coloring Pages for Your Toddlers will keep kids entertained and busy for a while. Don't let the "Toddlers" in the title fool you - these coloring pages are definitely suitable for any age!

Hello Kids

Hello Kids is a wonderful resource for teachers, parents and kids K thru 8th grade. You can find a terrific collection of Independence Day coloring pages here. 

Crayola

Crayola.com is another great craft resource. Their page of Independence Day printables includes a variety of educational and fun printable activities for children.

The Easy Peasy and Fun website has compiled a convenient and downloadable PDF of adorable 4th of July graphics for kids to print, cut, color and share.

FREE World Map 1 Inch Collage Sheet Printable

Here's another FREEBIE printable collage sheet. This one has a variety of crafty uses. Use while teaching kids about geography or add them to your family's vacation scrapbook. They're the perfect size for 1 inch epoxy stickers, bottle cap crafts or just glue them down and use anywhere. I designed them to fit on a 4 x 6 sheet of paper.

Free Kids Book Journal Page to Print and Save

I'm all about getting kids to read. (*See my bookmarks printable here) Here's another FREE printable for you to use to encourage your children to read books and write about them. 

Print this page out, have the kiddos fill in the info and store the sheets in a special binder. Children can use regular store-bought binders, that they've decorated with all sorts of cool craft supplies. What a great activity for the whole family to enjoy!

Quirky Characters Clown Bunny Bookmark

Just one final idea for those Quirky Characters. What better way to encourage children to read than to have them create their own recycled bookmarks? Just like all the other Quirky Characters I've made, this clown bunny was made entirely from recycled materials. Cereal boxes, colored with markers make up his body. The body pieces were glued together with thick tacky glue (I used Crafter's Pick). Scraps of yarn looped through a punched hole creates the tassel. Super simple and FREE!

Kids and Camp Postcard Ideas

Here's an idea to use those Quirky Characters that I featured in my previous post. Making postcards to send home while at camp might ease those homesick blues. Kids and parents can create them together prior to camp, to have on hand as needed. Don't forget to send some stamps too (and maybe a few envelopes to add extra protection for that precious artwork).

I used only recycled materials to create the postcard - cereal boxes to be exact - so it cost me nothing to make. I used permanent markers to color the Quirky Character and added thick paint to the printed side of the cardboard (I used a pallet knife for better coverage). The Quirky Character is glued onto the postcard using a strong craft glue (I used "Crafter's Pick"). Then I printed out the saying from my computer and glued it on with my homemade decoupage glue (school glue and water).

I drew lines for addressing the card on the back and it's ready to go. These postcards would also make a great Vacation Bible or other summertime craft activity!
