This book tells the tale of a “group
of crazy fishing folks” who live on the shore of the sea. Their task is to fill
a vat with fresh fish to make into their favorite fish dish, but they have to
catch them first. From there it’s just a matter of deciding how many fish each person
must catch in order to fill the vat.
As usual, Sally Huss has written an
adorable multi-purpose tale for children. Not only will children learn the
concept of working together for a common goal, but they’ll be learning math
skills as well. I can see a preschool teacher using a felt board of fish
cutouts to do this.

The story rhymes in a subtle manner
and kids should get a kick out of the back and forth exchanges between the
characters. The illustrations are simple, colorful and comical.
I really appreciate Ms. Huss’s ability
to come up with new and clever ways to entertain and educate children by
writing her “Happy Books”. Wonderful job!
