Potato Soup in a Jar Gift

If you liked my Easy Creamy Potato Soup from Instant Mashed Potatoes because you like the idea of enjoying a warm bowl of creamy potato soup without going to the trouble of peeling potatoes, then you're going to love this fabulous gift-giving idea. This is an inexpensive, but customizable gift that anyone would appreciate.

Ingredients:

2 1/3 cups instant mashed potato flakes
2 cups dry milk powder
3 teaspoons chicken bouillon
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 1/4 teaspoons dried parsley
1/4 teaspoon black or white pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons dried chives
1 wide mouth quart glass canning jar

Mix all the ingredients in a large bowl. Carefully pour mixture into the jar, using a canning funnel. Cover with lid. Decorate as desired. Use fabric squares, raffia, jute, custom hang tags, etc.

Serving instructions:

Add one cup of boiling water to 1/2 cup of soup mix in a bowl and stir until smooth. Serve with desired toppings - bacon, chopped chives, parmesan cheese, shredded cheese, or sour cream are excellent choices.

Tips:

Be sure to write the serving instructions on the hang tag.
Add more or less soup mix for thicker or thinner results.
Search the internet for free label and hang tag printouts.
Get the kids involved. Kids love helping with this activity!
Reuse jars (just make sure you clean them really well first).
Fill the jars with other types of soup mixes.
The possibilities for contents are almost endless.
